Creating Data Displays
This chapter demonstrates the steps used to create a data display template for your CS design. It uses one of the display templates provided with ADS as an example. When you finish, the dataset generated by your CS design can be displayed in this data display template.
These steps demonstrate how to customize a data display template using the STW_E4438C_896XX_Source.ddt from the WLAN 802 11a/g Test Source template:
- Load the data display template.
In the DSP schematic window, choose Tools > Connected Solutions Workbench Tool . In the resulting dialog, expand Create Data Display , then select a data display template. For this demonstration, choose WLAN 802 11a/g Test Source . Click OK .
The dataset files associated with the selected display template will be copied to your ADS project networks directory. - Modify the existing displays in the template to support the new CS design. Select the Page menu and choose each page that you want to modify.
As an example, open the Spectrum Figures page and modify the labels and plots to support the associated dataset. On the Equations page, modify the equations. - Insert any new data display template pages as needed to support the new design. New display pages can be from an existing . dds file.
For each Source and Measurement design, create and save two data display templates. One is used when RF channel impairments are defined in the signal source; i.e., either one or more of Multipath, Interferers or AWGN are defined.
The second is used if no RF channel impairments are defined for the signal source. - Save the new data display template.
In the data display window, select File > Save As Template , then select User in the browser that opens.
In the Template Name field, type in the template name using one of the names entered into the top-level schematic ReqdCommonSignalVARs for parameters SourceDDT_NoChannel , SourceDDT_WithChannel , MeasurementDDT_NoChannel , or MeasurementDDT_WithChannel .- Use the value for SourceDDT_NoChannel for data display templates used for Source design measurements when there are no Multipath, Interferers, and AWGN enabled.
- Use the value for SourceDDT_WithChannel for data display templates used for Source design measurements when there is any defined Multipath, Interferers or AWGN enabled.
- Use the value for MeasurementDDT_NoChannel for data display templates used for Measurement design measurements when there are no Multipath, Interferers, and AWGN enabled.
- Use the value for MeasurementDDT_WithChannel for data display templates used for Measurement design measurements when there is any defined Multipath, Interferers, or AWGN enabled.
Templates will be located in $HPEESOF_DIR\custom\circuit\templates .
