Description

This schematic synthesizes a network that converts a load resistance to an arbitrary admittance at a single frequency. Starting from a resistance, RL, the network generates an admittance via a shunt C - series L - series C - shunt L ladder network.

Note
For certain desired admittances, one of the calculated inductor values will be negative. This negative inductor must be replaced with a capacitor. The correct capacitor value when such a replacement is necessary is calculated on the data display.

Only admittances in one region (hashed in the figure shown here) of the Smith chart can be generated with this network.
