Notes/Equations
Note
This component is obsolete for new designs. The component is available only for compatibility with designs created with ADS 1.3 or earlier. There are no plans to remove this component from future ADS releases; however, enhancements or fixes of any existing defects will not be made.
SStudioFileRead supports the older version of the Signal Studio file format; use the new CM_SStudioFileRead to be able to read data from files generated by the latest versions of Signal Studio or by ADS ESG/PSG sinks.
  1. The SStudioFileRead component is used to generate timed data output evaluated using IQ data from a Signal Studio waveform file.
  2. Signal Studio is a suite of PC-based software tools used to create waveforms for popular communication formats. Signal Studio has an intuitive, easy-to-use Graphical User Interface to set various signal parameters for flexible waveform generation.
Agilent's Signal Studio software personalities can be downloaded from the Signal Studio website http://www.agilent.com/find/signalstudio.
Signal Studio personalities compatible for use with this component are:

ESG Model Software Personality Option Version
    E443xB1xEV-DO 404 A.01.06 Forward and Reverse
    E443xBBluetooth 406 A.03.01
    E4438CWLAN 802.11 417 A.01.44
    E4438C1XEV-DO 404 A.02.02 Forward and Reverse
    E4438CBluetooth 406 A.03.01
Newer versions of Signal Studio are supported by the CM_SStudioFileRead component.

To use a file created using option 404 as the source file for the SStudioFileRead model, the ADS 1xEV library license is required.
To use a file created using options 417/406 as the source file for the SStudioFileRead model, the ADS WLAN library license is required.

  3. With the Signal Studio software you can save the calculated waveform in an encrypted SDF binary file format. On the Signal Studio software UI, choose File > Export Data.
  4. To use the timestep defined in the waveform file set TStep to 0. If TStep is non-zero and does not match the timestep defined in the waveform file, interpolation is performed.
  5. If the length of simulation is larger than the available data in the file, use Periodic and Period parameters to repeat the old data. The Periodic parameter must be set to YES for the output to repeat after time equal to Period. If Periodic = YES and Period = 0, the Period is the time stamp on the last data read in the dataset, and all data from the dataset are read and repeated. If Periodic = NO, the output is zero after all data is read.
  6. If ControlSimulation = YES, Period determines how long the simulation runs. If Period = 0, the simulation runs until the last data in the waveform file is read.
  7. The timed output of this component uses the carrier frequency specified in the file. You can change the carried frequency using a MixerRF model after the SStudioFileRead model in the schematic.
  8. The timed output of this component uses the power level specified in the file. You can change the power level using a GainRF model after the SStudioFileRead model in the schematic.
  9. For this timed source, ROut = 50 ohms, RTemp = −273.15°C. These values are hidden and are not user-settable.
